Ready to get connected?
Installing your RoamX eSIM is quick and easy. Follow the steps below to install your eSIM on your phone and get connected when you arrive at your destination.
Good to know: You can install your eSIM before your trip. You don't need to be in the destination country to install it.
Installation and activation are two different steps:
- Installation adds the eSIM to your device.
- Activation happens when the eSIM connects to a supported local network in your destination country.
Good to know: Direct installation is only available for compatible devices and eSIM packages. If direct installation isn't available, use the QR code method below.
1. Install your eSIM
Option A — Direct Installation
If your eSIM supports direct installation:
- Tap Install eSIM after purchasing your package, or open your purchased eSIM and tap How to Install.
- A prompt will appear on your device.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install your eSIM.
- When asked to name your eSIM, we recommend RoamX.
That's it, your eSIM is installed.
Option B — QR Code
- Open your purchased eSIM and tap Install eSIM or How to Install to access your QR code. Share the QR code to another device or save it to your gallery.
- Open your device's Settings.
- Go to Network & Internet, Connections, Mobile Network, or a similar option. The name may vary depending on your Android device.
- Look for an option such as SIMs, SIM Manager, or Add eSIM.
- Select Add eSIM or Add mobile plan, then choose the option to Scan QR code. Make sure your device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network before continuing.
- Scan your QR code. If your QR code is displayed on the same device, you may need to open it on another device so your phone can scan it. Point your camera at the QR code and follow the on-screen instructions.
Follow the prompts to download and install your eSIM. When asked to name your eSIM, we recommend RoamX. Your eSIM is now installed.
2. Activate your eSIM
Are you already at your destination? Your eSIM will activate once it detects a supported local network. Follow the on-screen instructions and tap Continue when prompted. Once activation is complete, tap Done.
Still at home? No problem. You can install your eSIM before your trip. If your eSIM shows Activating before you arrive, this is expected. It will complete activation once it detects a supported network in your destination country. Do not delete the eSIM. You won't need to install it again.
3. Use RoamX for mobile data
Once you arrive at your destination:
- Open Settings and go to your SIM, SIM Manager, or Mobile Network settings.
- Select RoamX as your preferred SIM for Mobile Data. This makes sure your device uses your RoamX package for mobile data instead of your home network.
- Open the settings for your RoamX eSIM.
- Make sure Roaming or Data Roaming is turned on.
If you have another SIM active, make sure your home SIM is not selected for mobile data. Your RoamX eSIM is now ready to keep you connected.
You're connected!
Your eSIM is installed, activated, and selected for mobile data. If you don't have a connection, check our Basic Troubleshooting Guide.
Important: You can install your eSIM anywhere, but it may not activate until you arrive in the destination country.
If your eSIM remains in Activating status before your trip, this may be normal. Once it detects a supported local network, activation should complete automatically. Don't delete your eSIM if it's showing Activating.
If you see an error or can't connect, keep the eSIM installed and check our Basic Troubleshooting Guide.
